Default Replacing instrument panel cluster

98 deville base model digital display burnt out. Anyone know the procedure to reprogram a used one to work? I know I can't just install it and go because it will not even attempt to start. Is it something I can do with a snap on scanner? My friend has the really sophisticated one. Please help!

Tech2 is the only one that can reprogram clusters. Dealers are normally the only ones that have them.

Thanks. I actually fixed it today. I just took the unit apart once I removed it from the vehicle and removed just the front display and left the original brain in the unit. It worked great and I don't know why I didn't think of that right away. Done!
