Default Poor AM Reception

A friend of mine has a ?1997? LeSabre with an aftermarket Alpine reciever. I know that most late model GMs are not known for good AM reception, but he can not even get the local sports station, which is only located 10 miles from his house.. Is there any way anyone knows to get better reception on the AM band?

If what you are saying is that he gets good FM reception and No AM reception then I would look into the receiver itself. My aftermarket Pioneer has no probs with the AM Band.
