Buick LeSabre Fuel Tank Problem
I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre . Bought it 4 months ago. had 105.000 miles on it now it has 120.000. Ran great perfect. then about 1 month after buying it, The fuel pump started whining . Starts whining and making a Air building up sound or like electrical shorting sound at same time about 1 hour into driving it. In the fuel tank. So I pulled the tank and replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Ran good for about a week. On a hot day 100 degrees and after driving up and down hills on freeway in the central desert part of Washington State. it starts sputtering and dies. I waited about 15- 20 minutes, And it started right up. made it to a rest area and had it towed back to my shop. Dropped the fuel Tank again and replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter again. drove it around for a couple hours ran great . Next day my wife driving it around town in 100 degree heat again. and it stalled three time'* in 20 minutes. starting back up each time. She limped it home barely running. Took it to repair shop. they drove it around for 7 days. Still making the whining and air building noise. Could not get it to stall. they did take out and clean the MAF. Very dirty, and cleaned the Throttle body good. Problem still there . Need help with

Yes Thank you Regal guy. Yes no check engine has ever come on. Also put fuel pressure gage on fuel rail and fuel pressure was 40 lbs at idle. with car at driving speed of 30 miles per hr fuel pressure at 38 lbs.

Your fuel pressure should be higher than that....like 45 lbs. When you say you replaced the fuel filter are you referring to the "sock" at the bottom of the pump? Also what brand of pump did you use? I had a Bosch fuel pump fail on me within 8 months. Stay away from Bosch and Airtex. It sounds like you need to replace your inline fuel filter. It is located on the passenger side rear frame rail.

Thanks Mad coachman, Ok all points taken. But the car is running great. I have replaced in line fuel filter. twice along with the fuel pump. MasterPro Brand name. I no this much that the issues happening are not caused by the fuel pump strainer or fuel filter. They are a symptom of something else. No check engine light. Don't know about DTC'* Because most code reader'* that auto parts store'* have, Only work with 1996 or newer GM vehicle'*. OBD II scanning devices. Car can have DTC'* And not show Check engine light on. FTP sensor and or Plugged EVAP line or EVAP canister solienod or Vac lines is what I'm looking at. Very hard to diagnose.

Correction the Fuel pump is a Prescion Brand. And the car never has a problem starting. Starts right up everytime. no rough idle, No Miss firing. No hesitating . No excellrating issues. I could start replacing FPR , Evap canister or solenoid , EGR , PCV, But its just throwing $ at an issue. Have replaced all Vac lines underhood that I can see.
