hello all. today i swapped the doors from the old car to the new car. paint was off a few shades and i decided to swap them back. i now have a major problem. one car, the rear of the door is too low untill you close it and the latch raises it where it should be. the other car has that problem and it also is too far in at the front. its almost a 1/4" closer to the car then the fender.

the hinges are the same, and all i removed was the bolts to the door catcher thing to keep it from opening too far. and the one bolt on each hinge that holds it after you drop the door on. the car side of the hinge has no adjustment, there is an alignment pin.

i included a picture so you can see how i removed the doors. all parts are all original to theyre respective cars , and i am at a loss.

i did not make any adjustments and now it magically dont line up.

if your hinges are bolted to the support try moving the bottom toward the rear of the car

Thanks for the info guys... only problem is that the car side of the hinge has an alignment pin that makes moving the hinge impossible. I'm not sure how to fix the issue where the door is further in than the fender. I'm also confused about how this happened when I didn't mess with any alignment parts.

Jasosn Just a thought, If u got a body shop close by, try and swing over to one of them and see if they might have some quick tips for you...
I know anytime u remove a door most often it requires alignment,unfortunately.

well, me being my impatient self after having to close the door 3 times when i got home, fixed them.

i determined that the hinges are worn on the cars, causing the doors to sag. since you cant move the car side of the hinge, my solution was to add a 1/8" spacer to the bottom hinge where it mates to the door. this fixed all of my issues. in the future though, i plan to buy some new hinges from the dealer, as this is a very redneck fix, and i want to fix it right.

but for now, the driver doors close with a pinky finger just like all the others!

I knew Jason U would find a way to get it aligned right & tight the way it should be..
Good work...The hinge replacement method sounds like no fun at all.
