Scratchy Sound maybe alternator?

My car is making a scratchy scraping noise only when in gear and i really get on the gas.. It doesnt make it in park or neutral when i give it gas.. Only in drive and im picking up speed.
Reason im thinking alternator is because my gauge us jumping from 13.2v down to 11.3v sometimes even 10.0v with 9.8v being the lowest.. Then jumps back up to 13.2. Am i thinkn rite or can it be something else?

Wait until the car is cold, remove the serpentine belt, start it, and try to duplicate the noise. Remember, the belt is removed which = no power steering, no alternator and NO water pump. Make this a quick drive. But I'm going to guess your alternator is on its way out.

Pull the alternator and take it into Autozone (or a similar store) to be tested.

Alternators, like ICM's, sometimes don't fail when removed and tested...it's better to test them on a hot car under a load....

Which is why I suggested taking the serpentine belt off first. :w3
