No power steering, gas pedal unresponsive
I've had my 01 Buick for about 11 months now. It'* always ran fine never had any problems. But today, on the way to my girlfriend'* house, I was on the freeway going about 60 or 70 and all of a sudden my gas pedal became unresponsive and my power steering stopped working and the car just kind of coasted at 30 miles an hour until I was able to get it off the road.
after multiple attempts to start the car it would start but the gas was still unresponsive. And then it finally let me use the gas so I turned and started to drive home and again the same thing happened. Steering went out and gas was unresponsive. Started the car again and the gas work fine, went about a mile or two and then it happened again. But this time every time I would try to start the car it would start and then it would instantly die. Tried multiple times and everytime it would just die instantly after turning over. I also noticed and oily kind of smell coming through the car.
I would like to know if anyone has any ideas of why this might happen or if it'* happened to them and they were able to find out the reasoning behind it? Thanks guys I appreciate any feedback also I'm kind of a novice when it comes to the car so bear with me. Thanks

Welcome to the forums. How many miles on the car? How long has it been since your 2001 Regal had a tune up with new plugs & wires?
Do you have a service engine soon light on? If so, need to scan for stored OBD2 codes.
Stalling out is not good & it is always important to know if it is fuel related /fuel pump problem. Connect a fuel pressure gauge and get some readings in psi.
Another good test is to remove the line off the fuel pressure regulator and check for leaks. see video- fast forward to 1:50 seconds..

I had a service vehicle soon (not service engine) light on, that came on with a traction off light and a anti lock light all at the same time about two months ago.
After my car started breaking down yesterday, the service engine light came on briefly a couple times, and every time I hooked my obd adapter to it, it couldn't find the fault code(it'* always worked before because a couple times the service engine light would come on, I'd hook It up and it would read the same error which I can't remember now, it had something to do with something that could be caused by the gas tank cap being loose or something of that sort. It said it was of low severity and the light would always turn back off.

Welcome aboard!
What were the RPMs at when . . .
. . . ?
Not beating you up here, however, it'* an awful big coincidence that the power steering went out at the same time as the accelerator pedal became unresponsive while the engine is running, let alone three times. If the engine quit then it would totally make sense.
Is this the supercharged engine or not?
How full is the radiator?
How full is the engine oil?
What color is the engine oil?

Sounds like something that happened to me with the 1997 Old 88 I once owned. Doing 70 mph or so on the interstate the engine did not stall it just would not accelerate. After coasting to a stop the engine was still running. I shut it off and restarted the car and It ran fine until the next episode. It was the dirty sock on the fuel pump being sucked up blocking the pump intake.
