Replacement Ign key
I have been trying to find a replacement for a #B62-P-3 GM Vats Ignition Key Blank, I can find the keys with the resistor pellet in them, but I bypassed my ignition security so I can get cheaper keys made, I can get an actual replacement for about 15.00, but I was hoping there was a #B62 standard key blank, I read that "The standard B62 blank will hit the face of the igniton lock, so by shortening the head of the blank, you're in turn lengthening the blank."
Is there a cheaper standard #B62 Blank?
If not I may look into reconnecting the ign cylinder security portion of VATS and just spend 15.00 a key I guess.
I tried to see if Walmart could find a blank that would work, but the lady working seen my key had no pellet in it and said she cannot copy them if the security feature is removed, I soldiered out the pellet as I just did not want it there as it was no longer needed, but I do not see how they can refuse to copy my key, I told the lady I own the car totally, and it is my right to remove the security system if I want, but she still refused to copy my key, talk about ignorance....

It'* probably some sort of Walmart policy, or a lowly employee looking to avoid any trouble. I bet you'd have a better chance getting a copy of that key if you went to a "less-corporate" business that copies keys.

I'll try somewhere else, or just see if they will copy it to the actual blank with the resistor in it, it will still start my car since the resistor is wired after the ignition.
I have to find some place that will do it as it is the only ign key I have left.

It'* none of her business what the "status" of your key is. What difference does it make really? For all she knows, you could have stolen the key from the owner to begin with.
Try Lowes or Home Fleapot.
But yes, I have seen somewhere (here or Google) that some people are using regular ignition key blanks with no problems. (without the pellets)

I am using a blank with no issues. I tried a Walmart blank and it wouldn't work.
I had to take mine to a local locksmith. Absolute cakewalk for someone who does it for a living.
Ironically enough, he had a Lumina apart that broke the wires in the lock cylinder when I went.

Its their store policy, as I found out. When I first got my LeSabre, (even though it has no visible pellet) I couldn't get any store to copy it. I even offered to show them title and registration, but nope. First thing they would do was check it for a transponder. Even Lowes and HD refused to do it. All I wanted was a second key, just in case I locked myself out. I eventually went to the dealer and got 2 more transponder keys and another transmitter programmed. Even at the dealer, I had to show them my registration to get the key cut.
So in other words, yeah, expect the same from any other chain store. Go to a locksmith or some independent hardware place and you might have better luck.

Thanks guys, I'll try to find a local hardware store, or a locksmith, as this is the only key I have, so if I ever lose it I am screwed.

I actually went through this earlier in the week. I bought the matching VATS key blank online for $8 plus shipping, then took it to the local hardware store (a TrueValue store, if that helps) and in all of one minute, I had a freshly-cut ignition key for 85¢ -- no title, registration, license, or questions needed.
