A Buick Factory Mystery??? Please help- 98 Lesabre
Hello Everyone,
Long-time reader, first-time poster.
Recently picked up a 98' Lesabre Limited- with 50k original miles out of PA.
The V5 compressor had the "belly o-ring" leaks, so I changed it- with what I thought was no problem. Then a dilemma came about:
My factory compressor has a stud which hold the A/C manifold/lines to the back of the compressor with a nut to tighten it- all the new and reman v5 compressor (factory GM or not) ALL have a threaded hole where a bolt should go- NOT a stud and nut!
I've tried every which way to get this stud out and it WILL NOT budge. A dealer told me the size of the nut and said I may be able to pick this up.
That said, since I know this compressor was used in several cross-platforms: has anyone ever encountered this before? What did you do or did you get the stud off? I currently have everything else hooked back up- this is it!
Even the dealer couldn't believe it! Just a heads up, though- I did see that my compressor read 97' and I thought I found something on Google about a factory mod kit?

He is talking about the A/C compressor, however he mentioned oil requirements are listed differently whether or not you have ELC, which is not a factor that should affect that.

The whole system takes 8oz.....
Auto level has nothing to do with the A/C system....
Rule of thumb is, remove the bolt from casing of the V-5 compressor, and drain the oil into a measureable cup......make sure the replacement compressor is emptied.......
If you drain less than 2oz from the old compressor, add 2oz to the replacement...if you drained more than 2oz, whatever that amount is, add to the replacement compressor,....
