Rear Window/Door Lock Electrical Problem
 

Hi, I am new here. I have a problem that just started. I have a 04 LeSabre Limited, and about a week ago a problem started. For about a day, just after starting the engine, I would get a dual warning: blinking message on dash "door ajar" and the related bell sound. I got out and checked all of the doors and all were closed. A couple of times both rear windows would lower a few inches and stop (ghosts in back seat?). Then the next couple of days, both rear door locks and windows were randomly inoperative (regardless of control used: for windows, it did not matter if I used the driver's master button, or the individual window control on the respective rear door; and for door locks, if I used the driver's master lock control or the key fob). Note: the front windows and door locks continued to work fine. Then after a few more days, the condition became permanent, and the rear electric window and door locks have not worked since. Both front windows and door locks continue to work fine. I checked the fuse box and it looked like fuse # 18 is relevant here, and it was fine. I even tried a new fuse just for kicks, and no luck. Any ideas?

There was a thread back in 2011 describing this problem, and Hawk provided a link to an article. Unfortunately the link no longer works, and none of the posts provided a detailed fix for this.

For better exposure Steve I moved this to the Buick Section.

I am wondering if a ground bus may be responsible? Also door switch?
I will let others more familiar with an 04 LeSabre chime in though..

I wonder about a drivers door module...Or how to test it..hmmm,,

the rear regulators are such an issue on those i would look at those first. did the rear windows operate by there own switches when they didnt work with the driver door module?

You also contributed to this question I posted at an old thread from 2011.

To answer your question: No, the rear windows did not operate by their own switches. All of a sudden, both rear door locks and both rear windows stopped working completely, regardless of the switch input.

I therefore think it might not be the drivers door module.

cant look at the schematics right now but the ddm should affect the rear door lock buttons, sounds more like a loss of power or common ground if there is one, if you looked at the fuses try taking the fuse out sometimes they get corroded, or the sockets get loose

It appeared to me that fuse #18 is relevant, so I removed & inspected. It looked ok, but just to be sure I tried a new fuse, and unfortunately it was no different.

looking through the schematics, 10amp "rrinmdl" (under rear seat) is the fuse that powers the rear combined module. there are two inputs but the other is a circuit breaker that powers all three modules and you said the front works so wouldnt be that
