You just pry up the end of the strap to expose the phillips head screw.

Yup. I was working on it for hire for the neighbors (to whom I had sold the car four years ago) and my bill got so high, I offered to take it off their hands for the cost of my labor, the parts I had purchased (at the time, $125 worth), plus $200 cash. That totalled as much as they hoped to get by selling it.

The drive train is A-1. It has 93K miles, and is in pretty decent shape. Their daughter had been driving it and damaged the passenger front door (hence the post re the strap). I just pulled a replacement door from the wrecker today for it. The body has some surface rust and the header panel and bumper are from an '86, from a repair made before I ever saw it. So, it is a '90 with rectangular sealed beam headlights.

But this car only needed a FPR in the four years they drove it, and it always ran like a top. So, now it'* mine. Has new pads, shoes, calipers, rotors, hoses, CV boots, ball joints, and end links. I love the way the doors sound on this car when they close. The trunk and interior are dry. The fit and finish on the trim is better than either of my Bonnevilles.

Tomorrow, I'll start on transforming the "new" brown door to a white one. Don't know what I'm gonna do with this car. I have to sell some of my rolling stock. I am up to six (not counting motorcycles) and I am running out of places to put them and $ to insure them.

Well, I reckon I gotta keep the truck. MoPar would be my last choice, but what can I say? I've got less than $350 in it - it gets 21 mpg+ and has a tow capacity of 5000 pounds. It will pull a tow dolly, my utility trailer, any boat I would buy, anything of mine that breaks down, and bring me many more "opportunities" for fun and profit. That'* one.

Then the VW camper is really the only such vehicle of its kind. It'* roomy for the dog and cat, It gets almost 20mpg, and when you get where you are going, you can pop the top, drop the beds and go to sleep - cheap! So, I'm not really wanting to get rid of that. We'll be taking it on spring break if it will run Anyway If the VW goes, it will be to finance a sailboat. Gotta have some fun in life. That'* two.

The wife really likes the Silhouette as a first car - front and side airbags, lots of room for her and me, and the dog, and the cat, and lots of nice features - plus, it gets 26mpg+ on a trip! That'* three.

Any reasonable person would concur that three is enough. But, if we sell the VW for a boat, I could keep one of the 3800s.

I never drive the SSEi anyway, so I am thinking it will probably be the first to go. It is still bone stock.

That just leaves the LeSabre and the SLE. The SLE would not be an easy or profitable sell with its tick.....tick at idle and its dummied knock sensors, but whichever will bring the most $ will probably go next.
