Where did you get this from? What make and model do you plan to use this on?

And to clarify, I don't believe this will work, as I believe it still uses an OBD 1 communication protocol.

What scanner do you have?

I have the 1994 Buick LeSabre limited I got the obd1 to obd2 connector from eBay or Amazon the car is being sat for the winter and low on funds for parts so I haven't had time to use the connector I don't have a scanner I use the one at advance Auto

Then I especially believe this won't work, as my memory believes the LeSabre (and all other C/H body cars 94-95) has the OBD 2 plug.

How do pull codes on it then without using a paper clip? I have a obd2 system

You need a scan tool capable of reading 1.5 and 2.0 protocols....

I have an Actron CP9145 that works great for OBD 1 and OBD 1.5 personally. It will pull OBD 2 codes, but doesn't work so great for OBD 2 live data.

Whatever you get, it must specifically list itself as being compatible with the vehicles in question, especially the LeSabre.

To help narrow your search, you will want to take a close look at the scanners that can do OBD 1 and 2, as those are most likely to do 1.5
