As would have it, the 95 Park Ave. with the 3800 V-6 would have this ridiculous (series 1), one piece "Generator Power Steering Pump Bracket" that has not 3 bolts holding it in place but a 4th that I could not find; had to put everything back as it was until I can verify for sure where this 4th is before making another attempt. After removing the alternator, there are 3 that are easy to see about half way down but the 4th remained elusive. After a lot of internet searching, there was a comment there "may" be a bolt behind the lower belt tensioner. I went to a Buick Parts Department, who found a print of this bracket but neither the parts counter staff nor a couple of the oldest Service people could make a definitive call where this "4th" bolt was hiding for sure.

The removal of this bracket is necessary to gain removal of the nose of the Eaton Super Charger: There is a pressed pin on the side of the nose that slides into an opening on the large bracket. There is no room to slide the nose out once unbolted as it is now.

I am pretty sure the 4th bolt is behind the power steering pump pulley, for your model I don't think they put a hole in the pulley to easily access it, so you will have to rent a power steering pump pulley puller from your local auto parts store, and pull the pulley, then put it back on, if yiu get the right tool it should be able to do both.

There is no room on the pulley side of the power steering pump to get a puller into the area. The top bolt on the pump was time consuming to work on and the bottom one was hardly accessible. So it appears that if the car is put up on ramps, this 4th bolt can be accessed from underneath and the power steering pump can stay bolted up???????????????

It'* hard to believe that the PS pump pulley does not have an access hole in the pulley to get to the retaining bolts...

On the Super Charger facing square on the belt side at the snout, the pin is pressed in, is on the left, and hollow with a split running down the length of it.


As for the power steering pump pulley, I ran my fingers over both sides looking for a hole that would allow the removal of the bolts holding the pump in place.

I am not sure about the lack of room for a puller, I did research how to get it off a bit, and two things I cam across said there were no holes in the pulley, and that the pulley had to be removed to access the 4th bolt.
What I read could still be wrong, but that was all I could find out.

So the number 4 bolt that needs to be removed can not be accessed from under the car with the power steering pump pulley in place?

Nor the power steering pump removal is not possible unless the pulley is removed to remove the bolts on the pump as these same bolts can not be backed out enough? But, if removing the pump in this manner is a solution this way, is the lower bolt on the pump more accessible from under the car as from above is tremendously tedious? This 4th bolt does not go through the body of the power steering pump as I had to loosen it to gain better access of another bolt on this miserable bracket that this whole thread is about.


The power steering pulley puller was sought for earlier at a nearby auto parts store but the one they had was more of a universal one that was not specific for just power steering units-it was not compact. What I had would not work. If this is the only approach to remove the snout of the Super Charger, I'll keep calling around.

I never ran into this before, because, if I remember right, the few that I did work on were Series II....didn't realize there was such a difference between that and the Series I....

The only thing I do remember being a pain in the ***, was that engine mount in front of the belt on the Series I or was it the "L" motor? Removing that was fun...

To make things easier to determine what could not be seen I borrowed an inspection scope. There was no bolt behind the lower belt pulleys. The holes were on the power steering pulley as suggested but the 4th mystery bolt was not accessible until the power steering pump was unbolted and tied up out of the way. All the bracket bolts were really loosened up and the bracket could be pulled away from the super charger without removing it. The tubes under the nose of the super charger that are for the coolant need removal to allow easier position of the bracket. Drain the radiator coolant way down to minimize spillage.
