New Park Ave owner
I just wanted to say that I am new to this board as well as the SC 3800. I have followed the 3800 for years, and that was my motivation for the Park Avenue. I just had a couple of quick questions for you guys that I was hoping that you could answer. First, what kind of mods are available for the Park Avenue. I know that they are kind of bastard children, and I have been looking into an exhaust and things like that. Second, how's the reliability of the PA? I have heard great things about them, but I want to get it from the horse's mouth. Third, what kind of lifespan does the SC 3800 have? I have heard that you can expect 200-300,000 miles out of these things! Is this true? And lastly, thank you for your replies, and I hope to remain a long term member!
BTW check out the sig for the Camaro, and soon I will have pics of the Park Avenue up :D |
Welcome to the club. Yes, the PA is more of a cousin to the Bonneville. Great car none the less. A very attractive ride. One of our members is selling his 92 PA, but it has a good list of mods that he did to his car.
Have a look  http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...%3DBuick&model |
I was going to give you the link to Thrasher but its not working for me. Anyhow most things that were developed for the Supercharged Grand Prix should work on your engine. They have headers, intercoolers, lots of pully options, and a shift kit for the trannys.
There is some Bonneville guys that have stuff also - see the Vendors section of this forum. |
Congrats on the pur chase! I myself am seriously thinking about getting a 97+ PA. It's either that or a Regal GS but the Park Avenue seems so much more comfortable.
If I get a Park Avenue I plan on installing a 3.4 pulley, 1.9 roller rockers, and headers. I like a little extra kick. By the way, where in South Dakota are you from? I'm in Vermillion. |
Thanks for the replies and the comments!! I do love this car, I just got done putting on my second coat of Zaino Z5 this morning and man do I love that stuff!! Every coat that goes on makes the car look better and better! Is the stock pulley 3.5"? I was thinking that it was but I'm not sure.

I believe the stock pulley is a 3.8".

okay, thanks. BTW, I'm in the Mitchell area

Love your Park! '97 to '00 Ultras are a terrific value as you are finding out, especially if you go for a nice combination of performance, comfort, luxury, and style. Check out http://discussions.gmforums.com/foru...s=&forumid=542 for some decent discussions on our current and future plans. Most of the SC 3800II stuff works with PAs, but there are a few twists relative to these cars that don't carry over from Bonnies, GPs, RegalGS.
Good Luck and congrats! Gramps |
Very nice car. Has kinda of a classy yet mean look to it. The front end looks like it wants to bite something!

Thanks for the props, and thanks for the website! It's difficult to find anything on the Park Avenues, there doesn't seem to be a large following (maybe it's because the follwoing doesn't last long after they buy a Park Ave)
