Default rare Regency 2dr.

Showed up on one of the roads I run daily. In a used car lot. Very clean, so I decided to swing by after work and take a good look. Never saw one up close. Its blue with blue leather. Interior is perfect, quite nice actually, very classy. Digital dash. Was an original owner - old lady with 106,000. Forgot to look at codes when in trunk but Im sure it was FE1 but then again it did have air level in rear, maybe FE3.

I was just about to ask "what year" when he started it , instead I said "its a 87 isnt it" no mistaken the sound of the off center engines and it wasnt old style split headlight so that ruled out 85 or 86.

Price ? 3995 ? get a life buddy !

Anyhow I figured it was a car worth mentioning. The 2 dr. C body - 98 Regency - Electra / Park Avenue - Coupe DeVille. I hardly ever see these and still see more 2dr Eighty Eights and LeSabres but they are fading fast. Not a sporty looking car but very classy with an appeal of its own.

Default um

you sure it was a regnancy? The back of my 1987 (2door-duh) toronado has FE3 badge on the back..
a silver FE then a red 3 with a black background...
if it said "buick'' its probably a riviera... but I dunno.
If you could find a picture... that would be great...

I dont know what made you think I was uncertain what it was but, dont worry , I can identify all early FWD Buicks and Oldsmobiles from a distance just before you can tell what color they are. It stood right out and caught my eyes long before I got near it. The first generation of GM FWD'* is now getting very thin. I predict within 2 more years they will be a very rare siteing. Just 3 years ago the H bodys were still everywhere, now I see more C bodys (4 dr) because many are just being finally traded or maybe even from older people that have stopped driving. While the people that bought H bodys were still working an racking up the miles so they faded earlier. Then the W bodys were bought buy the like to drive or drive hard people so they got wore out even sooner. Same with the Toro/Riv. seems like the Toro faded sooner because they were more popular with the men and performance types and the Rivs were upperclass more woman oriented car. But I bet most Toros and Rivs went to the junk yard because of stupid dash and electrical running problems.

BTW all you Bonneville guys. There is someone here that has a old white SSEI in mint shape, at least from the distance Ive seen it. They keep it real clean also, great lookin car. Looks sharp in white. All old H bodys looked good in white for some reason. I looked at a few Delta 88 2dr cars that were white and they were very catchy. Whites not my color either.

If you ever spot that car again, Steve, drop a note on it

Blue leather is something you just don't see any more, and if you do, it'* not usually in passable condition. Helluva price on that, but the guy will probably get it if he waits for the right buyer.

Speaking of leather, I've seen some SSE/SSEi with a green or a teal-colored leather, stock. Cool. I'm thinking BonneAlien has that.

And I remember the 2-door FWD Electras (Electra 300) from 86-88 or so.

I'd love to add that to my collection but its a 2000 tops. I did not crawl underneath and you know what that will reveal. Fuel and brake lines ready to go. The bottom of the rear bumper is rusted through which indicates undercarrage "sit" rust. Doors and A & B post are nearly rust free IOW you can see it is just starting in the folds of the steel. No nicks or dings on the outside though but the drivers door is stove in perfectly, almost so someone unknowing would think it was supposed to look like that. Kinda like the way a late 88 or my LSS doors have that body line. Impact must have been at the molding because the paint was not even damaged.

It had to have spent nearly all of the last 16 years in a garage except fot the time spent to get the 106,000. Because the interior is great. Maybe a shampoo of the carpets. Got the woodgrain on the steering wheel, the Regency scroll into the leather seats, very cool.

Coupe Devilles and Sedans are still around here. Retired folks bought them and didnt put many miles on them so they lasted. One of my former employers has a garnet red Coupe Deville in imaculate cond. He also bought his wife one of those new Mercedes convertables last year and has a Boatail Riviera that I never saw.

Theres a 87/88/89 triple Black 2dr Lesabre Presidential around here with "continental kit" rear fake spare tire. Thats not really getto, most of them were bought by rich white people that wanted to make their car just alittle more dressed up. Must remind them of the old days when they were on the front fenders like that. Made really popular in the late 50'* with the T-Bird. My current employers retired fathers wife has one on a 91 NewYorker that has like 28,000 miles and is near perfect. Their a prominate Italian family. Its more like a old school Park Avenue (uptown) thing than a Getto thing.
