more problems with my car ~like i need them~

hey all. sorry i havent been on alot. as some of you may know i make all my income by doing yardwork. and those of you that watch the weather will now that with all the lake effect garbage we have gotten here in nw indiana recently ive been kept busy. im driven by the fact i need to make my insurance payment and my $80 license plate sticker expired on the 12th (ive just paid it, but still need gas and stuff)

so aside from the fact i think i got screwed on my $1800 tranny, that shifts hard with 3 average size people in the car and the fact my tires are bald, ive found yet another problem. whenever i back up over snow that drags on the bottom of the car, i leave a trail of yellow oil.

at the risk of sounding nasty, it looks like morning urine. i have no clue what this may be. brakes are the same, the res was low and i topped it off, but the fluid looks like mud. nowhere near yellow. 2 brake pumps and the crystal clear fluid was black. tranny and coolant are both pink it had no smell, so not gas. i will admit, ive been pushing the car pretty hard to put the tranny thru its paces, and on streets where i know there are no potholes i have played with the parking brake once or twice. keep in mind, my streets are covered in compacted snow you cant walk on in tennis shoes. im not sure why that would matter because the parking brake is cable driven but i thought id put it out there.

and ever since i saw this fluid i have babied it because im afraid its something critical.

now, like i said it leaves a trail when i back up over snow that drags the body. my brother takes care of the snow at home while im out making money but he sleeps in so i back up over us being plowed in.

i went to my grandmothers to shovel that afternoon (after seeing the little tiny dots on our street from my car) and see a huge drift. i think cool photo op. i cant remember why but my camera was in the car. Attachment 20166

so i drove it to here

ok thats all well and good, i figure i have to snowblow anyway, and i get in and try to get in the garage.

i got this far

now after that pic i tried getting in but i had lost my momentum getting out and taking pictures like an idiot. frankly i feel stupid that i thought driving my car thru a snow drift was cool in the first place, but i digress. anyway ultimately getting it in the garage involved lots of backing up and getting a run at it and at that angle if i didnt have my reflexes id be worried about alot more than a yellow liquid at that angle. but the weird thing is there was no liquid backing up and moving and spinning the tires.

being that i have a rusted out exhaust and when my mom follows me she can tell when i push on the gas from the puff of steam that comes out of the bottom im praying it was just melted snow while it was sitting there running while i was taking pictures.

my theory is somewhat supported by the fact i took it to midas and they went i dunno.

here is a pic of the fluid on the ground. the top of the pic is my right tire track, the side with the muffler.

i took those with my cell to get the color. my camera camera made it look like you spilled gas. (really pale)

any help is much appreciated

just tryin to make ends meet but that being an immature teenager part is hard to overcome sometimes.

supposed to be "a considerably large amount of snow" on the 23rd and 24th. hopefully lots of money for the mystery problem lol.

anyway, again sorry for not checking in, and try not to be too hard on me for being dumb :)

Knowing where on the car this is coming from would help. Is this the front or back, left or right? That would narrow it down. Now being yellow is odd, because radiator fluid is orange, pink, green, or sometimes yellow, but you said it's pink. Trans fluid is red, oil or brown, brake and power steering is clear, gas is also clear. Something has me thinking it's water with a little rust mixed in. Is this near the back of the car?

What color is your coolant? How is your power steering fluid level?

Do you use Rain X Washer Fluid ??? Its Yellow !!

eltatertoto 12-20-2010 05:57 PM

ive checked all fluids, all are full. oil is about 2500 so its getting dark powersteering is full (rack n pinion does leak but its full and clear right now) tranny is full, and its red ofcourse. its running dexcool it didnt smell so not gas new shocks im almost positive its got blue washer fluid but last winter i did use the rainx. but i think i went back cheap when i got the good wipers.

i will check though, thanks for the idea.

oh and i think this is at the back of the car. it seems like in those pics its about where the muffler was

Could be rusty water in the muffler...
