I am trying to trace a hard start problem on my 94 lesabre, it alsmot always start ont he second try but what could be the culprit? It never dies and once it warms it starts as normal until it has had time to cool off any ideas? thanks

completely random guess based on my limited experience with no start probles on series 1 (you did say 94, right? feelin kinda lazy right now)... on my mom'* car, it ended up being a combo of spark modules and the ICM...

Fuel Pressure regulator..... Mine did the exact same thing til I changed that out.....

I had a very similar issue on a Series 1 and it turned out to be the ignition coils.

sorry... was a little lazy and in a hurry when i wrote that (nice combo, eh?)

ICM=ignition control module - expensive black thing underneat the

coilpacks (which is what i really meant to say when i said spark modules).

not too common for those to go bad though - it was just a really weird case with my mom'* car...

so in short *cough* i'm probably just wasting your time...

I was thinking the same thing... although my experience has always been that it'* the warm starts that are the hardest, not the cold ones.

In any event, it might be interesting, with the engine off, to pull off the vacuum line at the fuel pressure regulator (little can-shaped object at one end of the fuel rail) and see if it pees gasoline out the vacuum port. If so, replace it; the leak is being snorked up by the vacuum line and swamping the idle control systems.

On my 88 Lesabre I had the exact same problem. My problem was that the ICM went bad. I opened it up inside, and the green coolant packs that are in it (a gel) had leaked out, cuasing the comptuer chips inside to actualy burn and melt together. You could try and take your coilpacks off the top of your ICM by removing the 6 bolts to see if your ICm is leaking the green 'coolant' or not.

if it were the fuel pressure regulator it would leak when i took the hose off right? I get no leaks...i changed the plugs/wires and the fuel filter still the same problem when it is cold or when it has sat for a while it starts hard..

it always starts on the second try as thought the gas is not there until i try it the second time

note on really hot days it starts faster than in the early mornings or on cold days I will look at the icm this weekend thanks

also these codes were pulled on the car

codes were pulled on my car and I think it was po604 which reads as this

Internal Control Module Random Access Memory (RAM) Error as he said it had something to do with the pcm....what could cause that code and how to fix it?

the mechanic said it would be fixed with a new pcm i purchased one and replaced it but the code is still there what else could cause this code? thanks
