L67 swap into 2000 Buick Lesabre.

so the trans is going out in my 2000 lesabre custom and i figured if im swapping the trans why not swap both for the L67 and hd trans.
i have a buddy with a 98 gtp with blown motor and trans i can take parts off before he scraps it. My question is what should i take off his car for mine?
(pcm, wire harness,supercharger,etc..) Also what else will i need for the swap(parts list?) this is my first ever swap also. also basic performance upgrades?

Take his engine and trans. Though others have done ok with the stock trans with an L67.

His 2000 PCM is more than likely worthless in a 1998 chassis. Things do change from year to year, but the engine is the same 1996-2005.(except sensors-when swapping 3800's, always keep sensors same year as PCM)

As far as the swap, the engine mounting is identical to that of the L36. Just KEEP your mounting brackets. The donor engine will probably have different brackets.

You can send in your current PCM to be reprogrammed with L67 info.

ok should i get one of those swap kits for like $35 thats is a wire add on to the original harness or take the harness out of the 98gtp? also i seen something on different axels?

If you are good with wiring, you can just re-pin the other 2 wires that are needed. Or you can buy it. But no, do not swap harness's.

Yes, get the axles for the other trans.

so i really just need the
motor and trans
axels
move 2 pins on the connector
swap the sensors
swap the mounting brackets
and to get the pcm flashed

do i need different hubs or will my hubs work?

Mike Mar 26, 2015 03:58 PM

Hubs should be fine. It worked fine on mine.

i found a L32 with low miles in my price range.
would it be the same to put this in as the L67?

Mike Mar 27, 2015 04:52 AM

No, you would have to convert from DBW to cable type. You are better off just using the L67.

MN WAKEnBAKE Mar 27, 2015 10:59 AM

i havent looked but doesnt my 2000 buick lesabre have DBW?

MN WAKEnBAKE Mar 27, 2015 11:07 AM

if it is cable could i use a throttle body of a L67?
i havent found a decent L67 in my area that doesnt need a rebuild in my price range.
