Key FOB Programming

First post --hope it goes OK

We have just bought a 2009 Buick Allure (at least called this in Canada)

It has only 1 key FOB -- Our GM dealers want around $200.00 for a FOB and Programming. See them on Amazon for around $25.00 but do not know if a dealer has to programme it.

Have looked on-line and there are a lot of ways listed to programme it yourself, but I am unsure.

Has anyone done this and if so how

Thanks and regards

Being a 2009, I would venture to guess that a GM shop will have to program it with a GM scan tool....

They need to be programmed at the dealer either way. That price sounds about right for it.

Your key fob can only be programmed by someone with the correct equipment. Try local locksmiths as they often can do this, and are usually half the price of a dealer.
