Hi,there,my 01 park ave security light stays on after starting the car intermittently no problems starting,new battery installed a month ago.Codes stored are B1009&B2734 Cant find definition for B1009.Have been told by couple of guys to replace ignition cylinder,I have used both keys but continues to have light stay on,seems to happen more since temperature has gotten colder.Has anyone had this issue? Also I have cleared codes and they always return.Thanks for your help!

sounds like an internal fault with the bcm, or theft module if its not in the bcm


B1009--

The electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) check sum error detection is handled inside the control module. No external circuits are involved.

The module retains an inverse copy of the digital value stored in certain blocks of memory in the EEPROM. The module then reads the information from those certain blocks and adds the stored inverse value to the current value. If they do not equal 0, the module sets the DTC.

Replace the control module setting the DTC as current



B2734--The non volatile memory check sum write error detection in handled inside the control module. No external circuits are involved

The microprocessor runs the program to detect a check sum error after each power up. This program runs only if the DTC B1327 is not set as a current DTCs

The microprocessor sets this DTC if it can not write to non volatile memory. The DTC is also set if the microprocessor can not run an accurate check sum on the non volatile memory

The theft deterrent control module will store a code B2734 and the SECURITY indicator will be illuminated on steady.

Replace the theft deterrent control module

Thank you,if B1009 is stored as current I should replace BCM? I know B2734 is always a history code, What if both codes are history?

Just reviving this because I noticed the dash Security light came on when I started up my '00 LeSabre this morning. There was a one-time "ding-ding-ding" chime when I put the car into gear, and the light stayed on while I drove. No symptoms other than that. Just bought this car yesterday, it'* bone stock and runs great but high miles (159k) for what it'* worth.

Is it really worth replacing the BCM or diving into anything else if the security fault is not causing any side effects?

is there any aftermarket security stuff on it?

Nope. All original in every way. I just noticed the light today, and I don't think it was there with the other key I used yesterday (I have both original chipped keys and keyfobs)... so I need to clean the key and try the other one before assuming anything worse.

Please TRY THIS...
on the key FOB push and hold both the lock and unlock buttons down at the same time until the lights flash/car horn goes. U have just re-synchronized with the remotes and often that may fix the security light problemo..at least it did on my 97PA..when I got the ding and solid security light..
BTW batteries should be changed in FOBs every year or so,,hope this helps..

there are a number of things related to the security light besides the key. the one my bonnie blinks when the doors are open and stuff like that
