Welcome to the forums, nice project you have going.

I have a tip to help keep the headliner in place until you can fix it, these are just a temp solution, but they worked for me to keep my headliner from separating any more.

hello everyone minor updates

1. ABS- my mechanic did not seem to think that repairing the ABS was worth the price. I concur and think that $$ could be better spent elsewhere on the car at the moment.

The good news is that there is a 1988 Buick P/A parts car with ABS close to where I live with ABS- I will be picking up that Master Cylinder later in the next couple weeks.

2. got a grill and headlights from the above mentioned car- they weren't in the greatest shape but they were better then what I had so they will work (trying to clear the plastic lens of the turn signals don't work- age I guess)

3. BOSE radio will not fit- apparently the current radio has plugs that fit 1993+ GM radios??- guess I will have to find a cheap GM Delco unit and replace the innards of the BOSE unit with it

4. right now I am looking for a cheap caddy to pull some of the roof straps that came with the c-bodies on the roof liner.....if I need to replace the roofliner might as well spruce it up a bit

The big concern with the abs is finding out what the problem is. It could be something as simple as a dirty wheel speed sensor.

- I think my mechanic ruled that out, he mentioned the repair would be something simple like a wheel sensor, but after taking a closer look he did not decide to repair it.

Youtube has a good video segment about Buick ABS brakes from 1991- the portion about Teves II starts at 5:00- will be busy for the next while- I really want my radio to work

i dont know anything about this tech, but i have heard a number of times the techs convince the customer its to costly to fix and the real issue the gm cars of that era take alot of knowledge and some special tools to diagnose the abs. i think i would get a different opinion and see if they come to the same conclusion

yes I agree too- there are a lot of good trouble shooting guides online that highlight common problems with the TEVES II like the accumulator for example that tends to lose gas pressure (its nitrogen filled).

I think there is a lot of negativity regarding this system which doesn't help matters. my mechanic was quick to point out his dislike for the system- something about the pedal going hard.... which is common complaint online.

I am in no rush to fix it - it seems I am facing the same dilemma my dad used to face with his previous car - he had an early generation 1997 BMW 540i- the ABS version used on his car had a special computer chip that roughly costs $2000 to replace.....late 1997+ models use a slightly different system that is far cheaper to repair, but is not compatible with his car- he never fixed his

i used to work with a guy who had a reatta and out of all the gadgets on that the only thing he complained about was the brakes. i used to stay away from abs, its more of a pain than its worth. not really possible anymore unfortunately, the last three cars i had i didnt have a choice.

heys guys some minor updates,

I managed to get a TEVE'* ABS master cylinder and computer from a 1990 Buick Park Avenue- which is great because I think there are minor changes from the pre-1990 versions and the Reatta versions.

I also snagged headlights and a front grill from the same car (unfortunately I tried to restore the plastic turn signal lens- only managed to break the plastichrome on the lights- guess they will stay cloudy)

I also have a water leak appearing on the rear drivers passenger seat near the courtesy lights (I think it is the moonroof-will take some pics for you but my camera ran out of juice)

I have asked for a estimate on leather repair- I was told the steering wheel has gone too far gone??- he can fix the seats and door trim but not the steering wheel.
