Default noise appeared buicklesabre2000

-Buick le sabre 2000
-less than month ago, had water pump replaced - acdelco oem
-there are no coolant leaks - all necessary repairs made

Situation:

I accelerated quickly within a short distance to make a red light, but didn't make it and braked at the light. Then a grinding noise appeared under the hood with a slight knock. Pulled over and turned off the engine, waited a couple minutes. Then turned on and noticed all was fine under the hood- no noise; drove home without a problem.

Wondering if the noise may have been the water pump or if mechanic'* repair may have caused a timing chain problem - not using that tool to cover that area ?

just wanted to remind that this sound did go away after stopping waiting and restarting and the drive back was normal

Maybe the fuel pump going bad ? - made grinding sound ?

i'm having a little trouble knowing exactly if the fuel consumption is going down based on reading the fuel gauge and miles because the fuel gauge acts wobbly once it gets down to about 2/5th tank. How to fix this ?

about 200 miles at that level - city stop and go driving

You wouldn't be confusing that noise with the ABS noise would you?

Fuel gauge is acting weird probably because the sending unit is going bad. Being the car is 14 years old, I bet it would be. You would have to drop the tank and replace the entire pump unit. And let this be a clue to do it now rather than later...pumps fail also. And DON'T use the Airtex brand, they fail very early.

some of the 2000 to 06ish cars have trunk access so i would look under the carpet before i get too crazy. and delphi is the best or delco if you can find a deal but generally are unnecessarily more expensive. the delcos have a good quality pump and if there are common issues they include the fixes

Thanks guys for answering

ill give more detail about the sound if it might give a better idea

when i accelerated from a stopped position to quickly make the light only to be stopped at the light there were not any sounds- pretty calm stop. however, after a couple of seconds stopped at the light a sound then appeared. i decided to pull into a parking lot right at the intersection where then a grinding sound appeared upon movement with a slight knock. when the car was stopped at the parking lot the sound was odd. car off - 5 mins later - all gone - safe drive home.

What parts are you considering as the entire pump unit ?

As far as GM parts go, I've found best prices at RockAuto.com or GMPartsDirect.com ... I always compare to Advance Auto and Auto Zone websites to see how the prices differ. Lately for what I've been needing, Rock Auto has been half the price on a lot of items. A good deal even with shipping most times, and 5% off codes are easy to find online.
