Default Front End Shakes On Acceleration

This has started about a week ago. Whenever I press the accelerator the front end wobbles/shakes badly. I have a 2000 Regal It'* particularly bad going uphill. As soon as I let it coast the shaking stops. I had the front tires balanced today and it helped a little but the shake is still noticeable. I finally took it to a shop today and put on the lift. The tech must have examined for over an hour but could not find the cause. He took off both front wheels and checked everything. He said it was not the cv axles or motor mounts, two things that may cause my symptoms. I do have a CEL on for mass air flow sensor also. I has front wheel bearings done back in October on the same vehicle. I'm really stumped and am not sure if re-balancing the rear wheels will help. I sure would like to avoid throwing parts at it in hopes it will cure the problem. I thought about changing the plugs and wires as it is almost time but it "feels" like a tire or suspension issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks

3.1/3.4/3.8? Mileage? Last COMPLETE tuneup?

First, why hasn't the MAF problem been fixed?

From your post, it sounds like you are not sure if it'* a misfire(ignition) or a shudder(cv joint), on acceleration......

Take the vehicle out on the highway....find a long straightaway, up a slight grade.....do 55-60....now slightly accelerate up the grade.....if you feel a misfire, it'* a secondary ignition problem....

3.8 and mileage is 190k. I bought car in September and have not done tune up yet will try that today. It definitely feels like a shudder on acceleration.

Ok tune up today but same issue If cv joints, cv axles, tune up, and motor mounts have been ruled out what'* left?

Even tho you had the tires balanced, did you have a wheel alignment completed?
If the alignment has not been done, tell the specialist of existing problem and let them have a good look over, even check bushings in control arms etc..
In the tune up, did you replace the spark plug wires & fuel filter?

Did you do the test I suggested after the tuneup?

If it acts up under the test, and you did a complete tuneup(plugs, wires, pcv, air and fuel filter), do a spark output test of the coils...

What about the MAF, have you tried getting MAF cleaner, removing the MAF, cleaning it, putting it back, and clearing the codes to see if a MAF code returns?

So I clean the MAF sensor and it did not clear the code but the shaking is not nearly as bad.

I'd do it one step at a time, just so you know what exactly it was.
The MAF is what I am thinking, if not that is sounds fuel deliver related, could be a partially clogged injector, or maybe a weak injector, but since you cleaned it and it got a little better, I am thinking the MAF may be faulty.
You can get cheaper MAF'*, but when it comes to these types of sensors I always recommend AC Delco.

Do you remember what the exact code for the MAF was?

Something that would not hurt, before you change the MAF fill up your gas tank, get you a bottle of Seafoam and put it in there, unless you have already done so recently.
