I was changing the plastic elbows that go through the tensioner on my moms buick and the one going into the block broke off and a piece went inside the block and i cant get it out

I wouldn't really worry about it. Worse thing that would happen is, it would get chewed up by the water pump. No worries, its brittle anyway. Another thing that could happen is it gets stuck in the radiator. Again, I probably wouldn't worry about it. I may just fall to the bottom of the radiator anyway and get flushed out.

What Mike said, also there was probably no way to avoid breaking that elbow, after a while they will become brittle enough, that breaking them while removing them is almost guaranteed.

Dorman has an aluminum elbow to replace the nylon one.

If you have a 3.8L motor from 95-2007, then get Part # 47065hp, includes upper and lower elbows, intake to tensioner.
