I am having trouble finding replacement fittings for my mothers car. The fittings connect the heater hoses to the belt tensioner. The dealer says these parts have been discontinued and regular parts houses do not stock the either. can anyone give me an idea of where to find these parts? Thanks

junk yard i guess, dont see them listed anywhere. if you have them and they are leaking you could try taking them out, coating them with some black rtv and reinstalling them

If you are talking about the coolant elbows, occasionally referred to as a Heater Hose Fitting, then they are easily found, there are aluminum coolant elbow available now, which are much better replacements for the old plastic ones.

Look this part up, RockAuto has the part for $6.74 plus shipping, you may also find it in your local parts store, just be sure to get the aluminum ones, and not the plastic.

Ohhhhh, those fittings, that makes more sense, not sure why rockauto called the coolant elbows heater fittings, that threw me off, that and since I have yet to have to replace my heater hoses I'd not seen that there were fittings there.

That v6fixit kit looks good to me, those original parts should be able to be found at places like Nalley Buick Parts, but for the money the v6fixit fittings sound like a much better way to go, as a lot of us know how plastic parts with coolant passing through them last, the kit they sell actually does not cost much more that what the originals are listed as selling for.

If money is really tight, and they are ok with used parts, and keeping with the plastic fittings, then they could always check this used car parts site.

Oh, darn... I already have the plastic elbows for the Intrigue. Didn't know they made metal ones now! (That'* the latest project, I've been putting it off for too long, and on the way home from work tonight I started leaving huge clouds of white smoke behind me from coolant leaking)...

Yeah, the aluminum ones should stop the possibility of the elbow warping, and blowing out, it also should never need to be replaced, even if you had to remove it, it should always be in good enough shape to reuse, the plastic ones still work though, I went with them because the aluminum ones came out right afterwards, so as long as it does not leak I'm leaving it in there, the old one made it 133k and it only failed because I had to remove it when I did the LIM Gasket, it was so warped both ends fell apart upon removal..

The ends of both elbows were cracked all the way around, and left the o-rings and the ends of the elbow inside. Broke two picks, one of which I ended up bending the crap out of, just getting that plastic out (crappy Stanley tools from Walmart)... And the massive leak I had last night on the way home was due to a missing chunk of elbow, a nice rectangular 1/8" x 1" hole.

I wish the engineer that came up with that idea would have been under the hood with me today, bad back and all, in 21-degree weather during snow, changing the darn things. Reassembly was the toughest part, trying to get the elbows positioned just right so the bolt holes line up... Eeeesh.

Guess I shouldn't complain, I mean, 202,000 miles on those elbows, the original UIM/LIM/Head gaskets, and if you jump on the throttle, she still rockets like she did at 27k when I bought it... But still, if they moved the alternator to the front and put the ICM/Coils in the back, they could have tweaked the tensioner position and not had to run coolant THROUGH the tensioner! What were they thinking!?
