OK ive been fighting to get my Buicks ignition problem fixed for a week now. I replaced the spark plugs and wires last week with NGK TR6 ix that I got from ZZP (were supposed to come pre gapped at .55 but later I found out they were gapped at .35) the first test drive with this setup netted a shutter, not a killer shutter but one that was DEFINATELY not right. OK so I figured one of the wires wasnt on the plug all the way, so I checked and made sure they were all good, test drove again and shuddered just as bad. SO at this point I said OK maby one or 2 of the wires is bad, so I found the loosest wires (Jacobs 8.5mm was what was originally put on) and put stocker 7mms back on, so now im running 4x8.5mm and 2x7mms. Shudder doesnt get any better. SO I take a trip to the parts store and get some new plugs (this time NGK TR6 non iridium) and gapped them myself to .55. Now as I was installing those plugs I took out the number 6 plug and found that upon installation it had broken.....so at this point im smiling and laughing at myself saying "JEEZ ya idiot no wonder it was shuddering you broke the plug" and all is well untill I start the car again...this time shuddering even worse than the first 2 times. Now im like OK ive gone through the plugs and checked the wires...whats next....MABY the coils just happend to go bad when all this happened (not likely but maby) SO I dig out the old coils off the Bonne that I took off in perfect working order when I went to the 8224s. Slap those on the Buick and run it again.....NO BETTER NO WORSE. But still bad......now the car has set off the SRS light. "OH CRAP" I think.
Only one thing left to check right. Off to the parts store again, and I get some brand new 8mm OEM style wires. Just got done installing those, and guess what it got even worse. Im not even sure my car will get me to work tommorrow.


BTW the DTC code it spat out was: either P0300 or B0077 (one of the two is for my air bag light which is unrelated) I read the codes with my Hypertech, which I still have not actually installed because ive been wanting t have the car running right before I mod it some more.


HELP :(

called my pal at the dealer, and he told me I was correct the "P" code is the misfire code, and the "B" code is the airbag sensor test failure (ill worry about after I get the car running)

twice!....I also checked my stock plugs for gap and they were at .60 vs. the .55 I gapped the second set of plugs at.....surely .05 wouldnt make it friggin hardly run??!! I also think the smaller the gap the easier it is for the plug to fire, so that wouldnt make any since for a smaller gap than stock to make it run worse......also it would explain why the TR6ix'* from ZZP werent causing as much a misfire problem as the new plugs (ix'* were at .35)

ICM or bad coil

turned out to be a bad plug. The second set I put in had 1 plug with a defect. I only wish it was the #6 so I wouldnt feel so bad about paying the dealer to figure it out for me. I coulda replaced the #1 plug 10 times in an hour. Oh well at least its fixed and running smooth again...GOD I missed WOT!!!
