My Mom has been driving a couple of old cars for the last several years, One day I drove her old regency and said Mom I think you need to think about getting something newer....

Anway I find in the paper a 98 Buick Park Avenue with 38k on it, call the guy up and he says he's selling it for his in laws. He says its in good shape but not great. So I get there to look at it and its pretty nice, test drive it and before I could finalize the deal on it two more people were there flashing money around trying to offer him more than his asking price in the paper.. , without even test driving it and one lady sight unseen!

Anyway We got for full asking price of 4500 which isnt too bad. Apparently this kind of mileage is hard to find on a Park Avenue at that price. Funny thing is I wasn't even looking at a Park Avenue for her. Ive been looking at Regals, Centurys, Taurus, more mid size stuff. She wouldn't even test drive it that day, she's old and wasn't familiar with the roads or neighborhood. So I test drove it and WOW. that thing is silky smooth and sweet! I was imediatelly impressed. So I did a little research and I know some of you guys are familiar with the Buick line becasue of the Ultra model with the supercharged engine.

I'll post a pic later

Anyway, just needs a new gator belt and some disc pads on the rear and it ready to rock and roll....er uh....that is if Gammy wants to rock and roll :)

Do you need another Mom? I could always use another kid, especially if their buying :D

That is very nice of you. Now I must add that my mom drives my 99 SLE. Buahahaha! She must have raised you very, very well. It's too bad about those people wanting to pay so much for that car. I hope it lasts a long, long time.

By the way, you paid less than $1000 more for that PA, and the 99 SLE had 120K miles when we bought it. :?

That's sort of how my deal went.
As I've posted before. I'm a VW guy (old water cooled kind).
A friend of mine told me his grandparents were thinking of selling their 90 Park Ave. Either that or they were just going to GIVE it to charity. He sent me pictures of it. Looked really nice.
He took me up there, I took one look at the inside and out and I was ready to write the check out, without even driving it! It had 60k miles on it, not a rip, in the seats, not a crack in the dash and everything was kept up. It looked likt it sat on the showroom floor all these years.

I expected the guy to tell me $7000. Nope he said "Since you're a good friend of the family" (I am??) " I'll sell it to you for $1500, but you have to promise me you'll take good care of it". I promised as I wrote out the check. :)

Later on, I found out "grandpa" went to the dealership, special ordered the car with extra options and deleted options. He picked out the interior color as well as exterior, and also ordered the rag top. One thing I'm not really fond of is that he also ordered the gold package. That gold shows al lthe scratches and all the water spots. Luckily, it gets sprayed down every weekend, washed every 3rd weekend and waxed after it's washed.
I've had to replace the alternator a week after I got the car, tires, strutts and shocks, and on oil with filter change, along with a brake flush. Not too bad for a car that sat most of it's life inside a garage. :)
I know I got one hell of a deal, and I take pride in telling everyone that I own that white and blue Park Ave out in the parking lot. :)
