Thats all they put in buicks period up untill recently! But pop the hood! The cover should tell u, if it just says 3800 its first gen.. If not itll say 3800 series 2.
Both are pretty easy! Just dont wana do alot of typing and giv the wrong directions.

Ok Shawn, I gotya. Yes, the plastic cover, over the fuel rail say'* 3800, just like all twelve of the other buicks I have owned. I have never seen one that say'* series 2. But thanks for telling me that. I really appreciate your help here. I have found a couple of videos for replacing this assembly on the internet but, they are completely differant than what'* under my hood so, now I can assume that they were series 2 engines. I really need some detailed instructions for this and if possible, a diagram. I attempted to remove it a couple of days ago, by removing the power steering pump, alternator, and (I think) all the bolts but, I ran into a couple of steel? pipes that I did not understand where they went and something else that I wasn't too sure about so, I put it back together and started doing some research. I can tell you also, that the coolant lines do NOT run through the unit, like on (I am supposing) the series 2.

Please do your best to get me set str8 on this project.

Thanks!

Take a picture of what engine you have. 1995 was the beginning year for Series 2 engines and lasted all the way to 2005. But there might be a few cars with the Series 1 engine as they were trying to get rid of the older ones in 1995.

I have no way to take a picture Mike, but the 8th digit of the VIN is L, and I just took another look under the hood to reconfirm: the plastic cover over the fuel rail says only: 3800 "tuned port fuel injection". And there'* a tag on top of radiator that reads:

Engine Displ:3.8 Liter

Engine Family: S1G3.8V8GFEC
