Sounds like a good plan! I hope they are successful in determining the issues.
Please post back any findings!

sounds to me like its not getting any turn on signal from the car if you tried another unit. on my park avenues the c&f light up just before it powers on. if this was not the case, and it worked apart from the screen i would be looking at the resistors. every car with this particular climate control unit i have seen eventually has to have the resistors re soldered back onto the board because GM cold soldered them and they break off of the board.
the resistors that break off in question are the 4 in my picture below.

HVAC FIXED
It turned out to be the module before the head unit...the Dash Integration Module. So to sum it up:2 hours of diagnostics @ $99/hr. plus tax and 50 for a junkyard module(the local GM dealer wants 341) and now I'm ready for summer!!!!

Thanks for the update!
On a side note, what does this module look like and where is it located? I have been having some issues with mine commanding the blend doors to work properly. Tried swapping the head unit from my other car, but no change.

Douglas, Thanks for posting the fix!
Integration Module has me interested too.
When I get some time, going to peek in the PA Fsm, would like description and location etc.

D.I.M. LOCATION
It'* up under the dash between the steering column and accelerator pedal. Loosen the one screw and it comes down. Has 2 wide pink plugs going into it.
Hope that helps,
Doug
