Default slooooooow windows in 88 LeSabre

Does anyone know why power windows get slow? Is there a simple fix, or do I have to get a new motor to get back up to speed? There is no mehanical obstruction that I can see or feel, but either front window can take like 60 or more seconds to raise from full down. Yikes! :(

Yeah, I feel your pain. There is no simple fix that I know of. I had my Drivers side motor/regulator replaced a couple of years ago and it helped. It doesn't take 60 seconds to bring the window up but it'* still

The 88-91 models are slower, but not 60 seconds slow!

Is that a 2 or a 4 dr ?

2dr cars have lots of problem , heavier longer glass.

You name it , its a problem
poor switches poor contact
low power motor
poor rear track design- its only in the top of the door

Id remove door panel get in there and clean it out good. Some guys have - cleaned front track and rear track and used lithium or graphite lub. There is also a track and lift mechanism at bottom of glass as well. Hard to do much to the motor and "ribbon" belt without removing motor.

I like my upper window tracks clean, grease collects abrasive window slowing deposits. The bottom lift track should be greased.

New plastic glide clips could help. Get them from GM and make sure you pay attention when installing them they are different and need to face the right way. If you have been stressing your motor that may be the problem. They are a weak motor as well as a poor track and lift set up.

I've also always wondered if the grounds get weak and dont deliver the amperage the motors need to be strong.

The Buick is a 4-door, and the rear windows are not nearly as bad (and they only go halfway down anyway! I think the windows in the newer Bonneville really made me notice how slow the Buick windows are. And when it'* cold--well, just don't go to McD'*!

Thanks, Steve for the ideas. I'll wait for some nice slow day and dive into it.

Oh, and I haven't been stressing the motor - its been stressing me!

My family has 3 1989 Buick Lesabres, 1 1990 Olds 98, and 1 1988 Olds 98 Toruing Sedan right now.
Every one of them has extremely slow windows. Even the 60,xxx mile Lesabre and the 85,xxx mile 1990 Olds 98 have slow windows, but they are slightly faster than the higher mileage cars. But it does seem the Lesabres are the worst.

I can't believe the GM'* built after 1991 are slower or just as slow as ours. My "new" motor now makes a "whirring" sound on the way up. But at least it'* *faster*(yawn) than the OE motor.
