There was a problem with those black steel oil pans leaking, even after replacing the gasket.....TSB came out....

The top of the Pan had a "ripple" in it......if you did not RTV the top and bottom of the replacement gasket, it would leak....

thanks for your reply do you know if the aluminum oil pan fit with the steel sub frame?

WilliamE 09-06-2014 10:46 AM

Just curious, but if a little RTV would stop the leak, then why would you want to spend money trying to replace the oil pan?

REGAL GUY 09-06-2014 09:13 PM

what have you done to your ride ?

WilliamE 09-07-2014 12:02 AM

Not trying to be rude at all, so please do not take it that way, but I am a bit confused, what does that have to do with the question I asked?

jwfirebird 09-08-2014 07:56 AM

i had to replace the one on my bonnie it was rusted out. there were a bunch of different pans. some for oil level sensors, and some not and the after market pan didnt fit well. if i was you i would just take it out put some black rtv on it and put it back together. make sure you dont crank it down thats as bad as leaving it loose. has to be torqued to the right value in the right sequence.

Ahh, I got ya, sorry about that, I did not answer because I did not know, I have honestly never tried to replace mine.

As for the Barney guy, I am not sure what happened with Bill Boost I think his name was, I don't think he has been around since the old Pontiac Bonneville Club days.
