Default Adding Heads Up Display to '03 Lesabre

While looking for a trailer hitch at the local junk yard, I came across a Lesabre that has an intact Heads Up Display (HUD).

How much of a headache would it be to add the HUD to my Lesabre which does not have a HUD? How much of the wire harness would I need to change out?

I think the parts I need are:
HUD unit, attached behind the instrument panel
Dashboard cover and sail panel
HUD control unit located in the dash board
Not sure on the wire harness

The junk yard is asking $100.00 but think the windshield would have to be changed out.

Is the windshield the one from the factory or a replacement ?
I buy cars at actions and have seen some HUD cars were you could not
see it on the windshield because the glass company put the wrong one in
look for glass makings on yours and side glass should match if factory

I tried that once with my 97 Bonneville. I ripped out the whole dash and the wiring is a nightmare.

But yes, you would also need the windshield. The HUD glass has a special reflective coating above the HUD unit to reflect the display correctly. The windshield is much more expensive then standard, thus probably why it didn't have the correct one installed.

Nope. It wasn't even worth the hassle of doing it.
