Default Doors Dont Automactically Unlock

Hello, Im new around here but i have an issue i cant find a solution to, or really a next step. I have a 1996 Buick Regal Custom 3.8L, and last week I had the driver'* door skin off and i went to reconnect the Windows panel control back up and connected it to the plug for the lock instead of the right one.. There was this pop/flash. i could no longer unlock the door via the button. I found that fuse 19 had blown, i replaced it, and that fixed my issue. Now when i shut the car off though, and its in park, the doors do not unlock. They did before though.

I have checked fuses and there all good. I know if you take out fuse 7, the doors wont automatically unlock anymore. But there is a fuse in there and ive tried different fuses but still doesnt work. Everything else works as normal, locks, everything. Any help would be great. I know its a simple system, just a little smarter than me. lol.

Thank You in Advance,
Dalton

the first thing I would do is take a volt meter to each of the wires to the lock control plug coming from the car and see if any of them get any voltage when you shift to park. You may have to check each of them to see which one is the right wire. just ground it and watch the volts. If you have one that jumps up to about 10-12 volts then you know the drivers door switch is the problem. the drivers door lock switch itself may have something to do with the automatic lock/unlock. need a test light or voltmeter though ofcourse!!

just a thought....

If you check your owners manual it may have a section that tells you how to set driver preferences. Many cars have a way to set these functions to your personal liking. Blowing the fuse may have put it back to a default setting. I am not familiar with your particular model, but this is a function of many cars including GMs of this year. Good luck, Dave

For some reason, GM made it so the doors dont unlock untill you put it in park, and shut the car off. When you turn the key to the off position, all the door locks would go to the unlock position. The button switch wasnt hooked up, so thats not it. and the locks still work.. There was a spark from the passenger side when i did it but i dont know where it came from lol. Does the MALL Module control something like that? i think there would be obvious marks or burnt wires or something on whatever blew..

Try this:

-sit in car and turn key to on position
-keep foot on brake
-hold power lock switch in unlock position
-shift car out of park and then back into park

This is the reset sequence for a Buick Riviera. May work on your car. I would think it is worth a shot. May save you time and money if it works.

Nope, it didnt work. I tried this once before too, and it was a no go. I think the car is too old anyway. It was the first year they really used OBD and stuff too so. I dont know whats next.
