Default 96 Century--replaced intake gaskets now it won't start!!

96 century 3.1. It had a bad leak thru lower intake gasket, but would still crank and run for a minute or two. Now I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and both upper and lower intake gaskets and the car won't start and is even backfiring a little. I am stumped.. it ran before but won't crank after many tries. Please help. Thanks
