Trans question
Hey everyone, i noticed a few days ago that my tranny would hesitate to shift when i stomp on the gas getting on the highway. Basically "It would stays in 1st untill i let off the gas or ease of of it and then it shifts.. Same prob when in 2nd.. 3rd & OD is fine.. Anyone kno what that could be? I felt it a few days ago, and after it was fine. But today i felt it every time. Fluid level is perfect and has fresh fluid.
(a little info about the trans) : i do all of my fluid changes myself. And i use GM Approved Super Tech trans fluid.. 3 fluid changes using it along with 1qt of lucus as well. also has the Trans Go shift kit installed in the accumulator.

Hey Shawn..How many miles are on the 97PA now?
Did u find any particulate matter in the pan at all?
When U mention GM Approved Super Tech trans fluid which dexron rating is that? DEX VI (6) is recommended now. What lucas additive did you use?
State of tune has a lot to do with shifting as well.
If possible try to get the PA scanned with a tech 2 scanner or snap on capable of reading PCM codes..that may show something helpful.

Miles are at 170,xxx somewhere around there.. when i go down to the garage i can give a more accurate mileage. It is dex 6 fluid... And there was no large amounts or chunks of anything during the fluid change... Just the usual little build up on the magnet in the pan..

Really try to get The PA scanned for any codes..& /pcm and see what may be stored.
Is the idle smooth steady at 600-650rpm or thereabouts?
Have you done fuel filter/air filter/ plugs/wires or any tune up lately?

So when this happens are you coming from a stop or are you already cruising ? What I am getting at is it a down shift from 4th gear or is a shift from 1st to 2nd? Second clutch failure is very common. Most common DTC is P1811 Max Adapt Shift.

Yes a slow down down shift while back on the gas to get going.....
Try adding some seafoam trans-tune into the trans fluid and see if that helps.
Varnish can build up in valve bodies/accumulator etc might smoothen it out a bit.
also check your engine/transmission mounts for cracks.

Shawn, please get the car scanned for PCM codes. Any dealer or trans shop should be able to see what stored codes are present. This is really needed!
Please post back any stored codes!
