Default Only cranks on second try

LIghts dont dim. Security light not flashing. 1993 Park Ave. First try with key=silence. If I bring key back to off position and retry= silence. But if I dont bring key back to off position second try=start right up.

What happens if you turn the key to on, wait a few seconds, then try to start?

Well I went to check on juice going from ignition to starter...bolt breaks off. Part of bolt still sticking out of solenoid. Now I try disconnecting battery cable from solenoid. THAT bolt breaks away from solenoid itself (bolt intact; solenoid busted).

New starter in and, knock on wood, 20 strait perfect starts.

Not very often that breaking things while troubleshooting ends up being good fortune.

Glad you got it fixed, thanks for updating us.

I second Mac Boy'* suggestion of spraying a good penetrating oil on rusted bolts before trying to break them free.
WD-40 has a good new product, which I'll leave a link to, and also PB Blaster Penetrating Oil works well.

SInce I started this thread the car was totaled...for the 2nd time in a year. But that is totaled in insurance co. terms. About 10 weekends, and as many trips to the bone yard, and she rides again! Looks good enough that the wife will even drive it. Buick'* Rule!

Default Break loose potions.

The very best penetrant I have found to be AeroKroil though it is not widely distributed for reasons unknown it beats WD-40 handily. My experience with PBlaster is not extensive but AeroKroil seems to work better than PBlaster. I have used Liquid Wrench and others. I would reach for any of these before WD-40. I have had problems with gumming after using WD-40.
