Looking for information and alternatives to the factory headlights in my 1994 Lesabre. If ya have this car then you know the headlights SUCK. Ive heard different stories from some people that you cant use any other buld other than the standard oem ones due to a heat issue. Please someone help me out here I need to be able to see. If you could be specific in what you did and what bulb you have use or are using it would be greatly appreciated.

Naa, they are just that shitty Buick design lol. I had 96 PA where the headlights sucked as well.

I am not quite sure what you mean by heat concerns, but headlights are cheap for these cars, so even if you fry them, you will spend more on the upgrade than the housing itself.

At any rate, my todo list includes conversion to HIRs and a relay harness kits. That should get it going really nicely. Also inspect the reflectors to make sure that they are in good shape.

I was told that some of these new HID lights are too hot for the reflectors. I am looking for alternate bulbs. New OEM bulbs are still going to suck.

In all honesty, a straight HID swap would work very poorly without installing projectors. It would be a lot of light in all the wrong places. Projectors usually work best with a clear front lens, not the ridged kind we have.

Some have had good results modifying a 9005 bulb and putting it in the low beam slot also.

Again though, headlight wiring sucks, get good relay harness kits, and that will help out a lot, especially if you start pushing the demands up above stock levels.

The heat issue was probably similar to the one we had on the Grand Prix models. Crappy headlight design led to using higher wattage bulbs like the Silver Star Ultras and such. This caused excessive heat build up on the factory connectors and they melted and failed. The 9007 bulb we used did have a heavier duty connector available ( MasterProŽ Ignition 2PS3 - Pigtail/Socket | O'Reilly Auto Parts ) that resolved the issue. I can't find anything similar for the bulbs like the 9005 such as yours uses.

My son did a conversion with this company'* retro kit on his pickup. It is some work but what a difference and it works perfectly in the original housing. If you're planning on keeping the car, this may be the best route. If you do it right, the kit can be removed and used again also as some have done. Agreed on HID Kits needing a projector to really focus the lights right, some without the projectors cutoff can blind other drivers, luckily with my HID setup I have not had any problems with heat buildup, or blinding others, of course I only dive old country roads that rarely have other drivers on it, and when there are other drivers I have yet to see anybody flash their lights at me.
Eventually I'll get some projectors out in there, but I don't have the couple of hundred bucks to do it right.

I went with the 35w HID'* from DDM Tuning, took a while to get the kit from Japan, but it is excellent for the money, and with these I can see way better at night on the pitch black roads I drive on.

These would probably work good in Zombie'* case it sounds like. Which lights did you get for yours William? They show 3K to 12K brightness on their chart. The 5 - 6K look like the best ones if I read it right. I'm thinking of upgrading my lights but I'm not rich either so this looks pretty cost effective for now.

I went with the 5k'*, and I can see a lot better at night now.
Also, you do not need to get the HID Harness, or error eliminator, occasionally before I cut my lights on I see an indicator showing a headlight is out, but as soon as I cut the headlights on it goes off.
I tried the error eliminators and somehow wired one wrong, because with my car the connectors have to connect in reverse, and it exploded with a very loud bang, good thing the hood was closed as it probably would have injured me.
I'll try to take pics when I put them back in, to show what I mean by connecting them in reverse, I had to remove them so I can get the car inspected, it is easy/quick to do so though.
All I needed was the mounting bracket, and the H1/H7 to 9006 adapter cables.

Also, stick to the 35W ones, the 55W ones would most likely get too hot.
