100.00 just to read basic codes is ridiculous, like mentioned most auto parts stores will read the OBD2 codes for free.
You can get your own scanner like suggested, but they will only scan for DTC's, if you have a more serious problem you will have to have a dealer use a Tech II on it, and then it may cost you around 100.00 or so..

Yeah. Autozone said they can only read codes 96 and up.

And to clarify as well, the Actron I posted can also show live data, which can help to diagnose issues. It's not a tech 1, but I can read throttle position, o2 values, gear commanded, etc, which will help to confirm what the computer is requesting (or not for that matter) and why.

This is something, that GM has lost, and will never get back....relationship with a customer.......

The small dealerships, had that......GM got rid of them, combining dealerships from an area, into one huge machine......you are now just a number......you deal with Service Writers, that are not there when you come back to that shop(turnover in these places is amazing).....

At my shop, we knew the first names of our steady customers, and we went out of our way, to not treat them like a number.......if a steady customer had a CE light on, he would just pull in, talk to the SM, and one of us would go out there and read the code......the SM would then give him his options.....no money exchanged hands....

It takes 5 minutes to read a code......to charge a customer 100 bucks for that is poor public relations.....and you are throwing away potential work.....I mean if it's Joe Blow off the street, yes you charge him for a code reading.....but not for an hour's labor, more like 15 minutes....and it should be deducted if work is done to the car....that's the way we handled it...

You are right, I overlooked where it was mentioned that you had OBD 1.5
Do you have another local Buick dealer that is not too far away?
If so maybe try giving them a call to see if they'd scan it for you for a much more reasonable price.
Unless you are able to get the Actron scanner that will read codes from your OBD 1.5 system, if so that would be the best money spent.
