Default Friend needs to identify a 2.4

Hello and thanks for having me. A friend of mine has a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, but he believes that the engine was replaced with a Buick 2.4, so that'* why I'm in the Buick forum. How would he be able to identify the engine by a casting number? He needs to order parts, but the 2001 Alero parts do not fit correctly. He said that he found a casting number. I'm awaiting his answer with the number, which starts with 06.

Thanks,
Bill *.

Is it possible to post a photo of the engine that'* in it?

The only Buick I saw that would have used the same engine is the 96-98 Skylark.

What parts is he trying to fit, and how are they not fitting?

There is no such thing as a Buick 2.4.......a 2.4 or 3.4 is used in your vehicle....Buick, Chevy, Pontiac, Olds all use the same 2.4L....

The 2.4 is a 4 cylinder and the 3.4 is a 6 cylinder.
Is it a 6 cylinder in your friends 2001 Oldsmobile Alero?
