97 PA-My stock 16 inch rims sports 225-60R tires.
Has anyone tried wider tires all the way around lets say 235'* any rubbing ..
Info.. appreciated...
Also-Most of the tires I have looked at have pretty flimsy sidewalls.
Any good (not cheap) performance sedan tires I should be looking at?

GY Assurance Comfort Treads are kinda weak..I want the Buick to hug the road in windy roads at 70mph and feel strong not flimsy.

I ran 235/55/17'* on my SSEI my SE and my 90 buick and breifly my 97 lesabre with no problems.

ive run these for years, probably 6-8 sets on my bonnie, my old monte, etc. they out perform anything else ive tried, any oem tires i had, etc. they are awesome in the snow and grip in the corners better. they also last as long as any other.

they used to have a more tractor like shape it was better at wet traction but its still what i will continue buying.

What kind brand /model of tires are you using?
Sounds like I should be able to run 235'* (good news for handling)

I've had great results with Bridgestone Potenza'* for summer tires.

That said, wider tires help, but you would see a huge benefit in a suspension upgrade. Even with pretty crappy tires on my 04, with the suspension completely redone, it handles pretty amazing for a large sedan. Even right now, while I'm driving around on my winter treads (Bridgestone Blizzaks) it can take corners pretty crazy. The problem with the soft suspension is, it just doesn't keep enough of the tires contact patch on the road. You need something to keep the tires in better contact with the road. Going from a 225 to a 235 isn't really going to make a huge difference IMO. If you're breaking 225s loose easily, a 235 isn't going to solve that.
A stiffer sidewall does help to a point, hence why I recommend the Potenzas. The shop actually had a tough time putting them on my other cars, to the point of wanting to charge me more, simply because they were such a PITA to mount. If that'* not a testament to their stiffness, I don't know what is. Its the only set of tires they've had that much of a problem with. lol.

i never wanted to go to a full snow, these do good enough. one time i was in okc and they got a few inches of ice overnight and shut the whole state down, i was leaving for home the same day. i just chipped a hole in the ice so i could get gas and left, didnt have any problems, left lane truckin, passing whatever.

I found these have a very strong / thick sidewall. 78k mile warranty or 130,000km

I don't personally have experience with them but maybe another member has.They look like a decent tire and michilens have always been good rubber

every michelin ive ever talked to people about was too hard a compound to get good traction. and they arent that good price either
