Default 2004 Buick lesabre 3.8 stalling

i have been having this issue since i bought it. it stalls while changing gears and sometimes it idles low when you first put it in reverse then surges back and clunks into gear. Anyone know what could lead to this problem?

Could we have more info ? How long have you owned the vehicle? Do you have a check engine light? Have you done any maintenance such as plugs, wires or other?

. . . and:

How many miles on it?

At what RPMs do these events happen?

What region does it live in?

Any recent trauma and/or repairs?

I'm guessing this is "US" like United States. Within the United States are many regions whose weather is vastly different than the others and can affect the performance of the vehicle, especially as the impacts of that environment over time accumulates. What region of the US does it live in?

Concerning the 192,000 miles, there are perhaps a number of maintenance items to consider. You have owned the car for one month. Do you have any maintenance records, service receipts or other info that came to you from the previous owner? I understand that the check engine light is on and you have some info on this as related to the oxygen sensor. Does this mean you have a code reader or scan tool? The issue of stalling does not match up as a symptom of an oxygen sensor problem. This makes me think that you may have a number of different issues to work out. For example, we need to know when the fuel filter was last replaced. If this is not know, this may be a good place to start if you desire to put the vehicle in good condition.

Isn't there a fuse that controls the power to the heated O2 circuits?
