Default MAF Sensor

Sorry it'* a long read but I wanted to give all the details, last year around November I had the MAF Sensor in the LeSabre replaced. Last Friday driving to work in the snow I ended up running into the windrow the Plow left 3 feet or so off the curb, it was big enough that I couldn't steer off of it and had to ride it out to the next intersection about 50 feet away. Nothing but some steam from under hood since some snow got packed in around the rad, work was around the corner so I gave it a once over and everything was good ( just the snow around the rad ). Ended up not working that day due to the snowfall and was back on the road about 30 mins after parking the car, a couple mins up the road the service engine light came on (PO102 MAF low input) car is acting the same as when I had the MAF sensor replaced. In the past week the light has come on and shut off by itself a few times, same code every time.

Is it just coincidence the MAF and the snow happened at the same time or do you all think the snow caused the problem? Haven't had time to do anything yet but I will be poking around this weekend on it. Thanks for the help.

take the air box apart and see of there are any snow clogs. if not and the snow got into the maf it could mess it up. check the connector to it too and make sure you didnt get snow in there, take it off blow the connector out and put it back on

Snow blocking the intake to the air box? Otherwise coincidence....

Aftermarket MAF? Non-OEM'* don't seem to have a long life....have access to a scan tool? If yes, look for erratic data from sensor...or possibly tap it to see if it affects idle....

So no snow blocking anything ( why is the filter box so hard to open and get the filter out? ) The filter looks good also, I tapped on the sensor and there was no change in how the car was running. I unplugged the sensor and the car idled down some but was running a little rough, tried giving it a bit of gas by operating the throttle body by hand and the car bogged down before revving up. After plugging the sensor back in car seemed fine but check engine light still on, went out to get MAF sensor cleaner and a Tamper free Torx set (what'* the point in them being Tamper proof? ) car drove fine. I will update once I get the sensor out and cleaned, ran out of time got a 2 year old daughter who woke up from her nap.

may be fine now that it drives fine, the light stays on a certain number of drive cycles to give you a chance to read the code

I hope that it'* fine now but I think that it'* gonna keep going like it was last week, on for a day off for a day and repeat. It does look like an aftermarket sensor so maybe it'* going bad, I wonder if there'* any way to tell if a little moisture got thru the filter and onto the sensor?
