2001 Lesabre - Cruise control not work
HI
It's me again ... when I pushed the cruise control buttom (ON/OFF) on the steering wheel the buld not turn ON . the cruise control not work . I assumed it the fuse but it looked OK , I replace it just to be sure . please ... any help |
I'd suggest you fix the misfire issue first. If that continues you're going to melt a catalytic converter or cause other problems. Then if the cruise control still doesn't work it's worth tackling.

Cathedral Club may be right........the PCM can send an inhibit signal to the cruise control module.......Off the top of my head, I am just not sure if a misfire code can cause the PCM to inhibit cruise operation.....but I would fix the misfire first......

So... what are you say ? the 2 problems relative ?
1 scratched paint near the door lock 7 Cruise Control doesn't work 52 PCM detects misfires 93 transmission blows up 98 engine parts on road Yes I made up that scale just now. Either way: priorities. If you have bad misfires, the last thing you need is Cruise Control helping you make misfires happen over a long period of time making your car die that much faster. I agree with Tech II, it may be actively inhibiting Cruise Control because of the misfire, but whether it is or not, the misfire needs to be fixed immediately. |
Last I knew, misfires do kill cruise control. For a reason. What happens when you have cruise on? Do you ever look at the instrument cluster? Noooo. So they make it so you HAVE to look at the cluster to see that flashing little light.

I start with replacing the plugs and the wires , but I'm sure that 2 problems not dependent ... |
Let's hold off on this cruise issue until we resolve the other issue first. If you are using a generic code scanner, it will not see body codes related to your cruise not working. So, I am going to close this thread and will reopen it once I see the other thread of yours is considered fixed. You are starting to drag the other topic into this one and this will confuse everyone.
