2000 Lesabre heat issue
 

Greetings all,

Just bought a 2000 LeSabre Limited, 3.8L. It has the digital dual zone climate control. I discovered that the heat is working but it is not coming out the floor at all. Heat comes out mid position. I know there is a heat blend actuator on the passenger side but not sure what controls the position the heat comes out. Would appreciate any help.

You have a door that closes and directs the air to the floor. Are all the other positions working?

Dual control only control temp on each side, not direction of flow......as Carfixer(shaken not stirred), asked when defrost, bi-level, heat , vent, etc., is commanded, do they come out of the proper ports?

You have 4 actuators: air inlet(recirc or outside air), air temp mix driver's, air temp mix passenger, and mode actuator(directs flow of air).....need to see if the mode actuator moves when you change to the various air flow positions.....

Just an update. I pulled the lower panels & checked out the actuators. All are moving but the mode door actuator shown in the attached diagram. I am assuming it is my problem but it is the most inaccessible one of the 4. I think I have to remove the radio.

I think you can get up there with this tool(thumb drive ratchet) and a 1/4" 5.5mm socket....[img]https://shop.harborfreight.com/media...mage_15157.jpg

Well, I have confirmed that the actuator is not moving when I change the settings on the control. I was think if there is a way to isolate the problem to either the climate control or the actuator without pulling it?

I'm pretty sure the actuators for the air flow are vacuum operated but I'm not sure the blend door is.
Can you tell if the actuator for the blend door is electrical. If so, the system may benefit from a reset.
Try a system relearn.
For non vacuum operated systems (electronic) the module needs to learn the full open and full close positions of the doors.
AC reset
Turn the system on full cold Max AC.
Radio OFF.
Turn ignition OFF.
Pull the HVAC (AC) fuse from interior fuse box. Leave out for 1 minute and replace.
Turn key to run/on position....NOT start.
Do not touch any controls. You'll hear the doors (actuators) being opened and closed. The HVAC module is learning the full open and full close positions. Wait until the system is completely done with the learning process. Less than a minute.
Start and test the system.

I thought the actuators would be vacuum based on what I read but all 4 are electric with no vacuum connections. Will try the reset option.
