2000 lesabre custom, Dash board cover "Split"it"

Has anyone encountered the dashboard cover "splitting at the seam due to summer heat and or age.

What "fixes" are available and at what cost.

I've developed a few cracks in mine over the years. I've heard there are patch kits available, but if you want the best-looking option, you're going to have to find a nice one from a donor car.

Junkyards are the best way to find a donor, if you know how to remove the cover in one piece. I'm not sure how to do that, but someone else should.

The IP top pad is covered with a PVC skin that dries out and loses resiliance due to exposure to heat over a long period of time. You don't say where you live, but my guess is in the southern states. There are patch kits available, or you can cover the top pad with another layer of something, or you can replace it. Replacing it is the only thing that won't look ghetto.

My car is so old I am just living with the cracks and splits. The problem is UV light so keeping the dash out of the sun as much as possible, or keeping a UV protective clearner will help to prevent damage.

You could check to see if you can order a new one but outside of the cost, it may no longer be available.

If you can't find a good used dash pad, a new one may be available through GM depending on color and with or without heads up display.

You can find the GM part numbers here: H INSTRUMENT PANEL PART 1;. Fits: 2000 Buick Lesabre CUSTOM | Nalley Buick GMC Brunswick

Once you find the correct part number, copy and paste it here: GM Parts | GM Accessories | Shop GM Parts or here: GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts or call your local GM dealer's parts department.

If you decide to go with a dash cover, try this place: Coverking - Custom Dash Covers

I put my car in and I can have one in suede fabric for $62.49. Has anyone tried these to testify how they fit and look?

Thanks for the advice, I need all that I can get. It's a Beautiful 2000 Lesabre with less a hundred thousand on the clock. A Dream for a used car, owned by a senior citizen and seriously taken car of. The only problem is the upper Dash, "Split by the Kentucky summers after twelve years". It looks like "Crap" because every thing else is so clean.
