Default 02 century, no reverse lights.

hey guys. my ma was backing up the other day and i notices shes got no reverse lights. being sane, i went to autozone and replaced the bulbs, didnt think to check them and put everything back together and went inside. today, i saw that he had no reverse lights again, so i went and took the center light off and looked at all the wires. all is good on the wire front. any idea what could be causing this bizzare issue? i know its got a good ground (tested it) just no 12+ when i pop it in reverse. the only thing i can imagine is causing this is the fact her odometer/gear selector has the common broen resistor issue and is dark. any ideas?

thanks alot!

Check for power on the orange wire at the Park/neutral switch. If you have power the fuse is okay. Place shifter in reverse and check light green wire. If no power you have a bad switch. If you have power check the wiring harness between switch and bulbs and clean and check the ground wire.

If you rule everything else out and are searching for possible breaks in the wiring, pay particular attention to the area of the trunk lid hinges. I understand this area is prone to rubbing on the wire harness and causing problems.
