Default 05 Lesabre lights are always on

I have a 2005 Lesabre Limited. Ever since we bought the car in 06, the lights (all of them - inside and out) come on when you turn on the ignition. Pushing the headlight or parking light buttons or moving the Twilight Sentinal switch does nothing unless the car is in park. I figured that this is a safety feature, but I cannot find out any details in the owners manual. It was not a problem for the first few years, but now one by one all of the interior control light bulbs are burning out. the heater controls, the steering wheel control buttons, the heated seat controls buttons, the radio... you get the point. I want to begin the tedious task of replacing the bulbs, but first I would like to know if I can get the lights to go out when it is daytime. I have seen other similar year Lesabres with only daytime running lights on, so I guess it is possible. Please help.
If I CAN get the the lights to go out, I will need some advice on how to access/remove the items like the heater control panel and steering wheel controls to get to the bulbs inside. If anyone had had to do this, any tips or tricks would be helpful.

i cant be much help except to say it sounds like the daylight sensor was bad to begin with and the lights on most of the things are inside things gm wants to sell for 4 times too much. i had a light out on my old monte and gm wanted like 600 for the control. so i tryied getting it at a yard but everyone of those were blown too. so i took it apart, (glued together) and the bulbs are soldered on to a circuit board, so they can be replaced but you have to be handy with electronics

Hi JW, thanks for the info, I will look into changing the daylight sensor. I don't expect changing the bulbs in the controls will be easy. I just got through doing this in my Escalade. But that was not too bad of a job since most of the controls were easily to pull out of the dash and I found some bulbs at Radio Shack that worked out well. With the Buick, I am not sure how to get things apart. I did not want to get started untill I got the lights to switch off during the daylight hours.

all i have taken apart so far is the rear door on a lesabre, but generally most gms are similar, the lower dash panels will have some screws underneath and then pop forward. the doors most times have screws in the handle areas then pop the rest out. a handy tool to have is the door popper tool i got from harbor freight for a few bucks. it helps pop the clips without messing up the plastic
