Default Replacing bushings.

How much of a job would it be to replace all the rubber bushings on the front end of the Buick Lucerne? About how many are there?

You mean sub-frame to body bushings?

No, I meant the ones at the end of the sway bars and the two brackets holding them to the car plus any others involved in the front suspension.

If it'* just a typical sway bar, the end links are fairly easy to replace. Sometimes the bolts themselves twist/break when trying to remove them. That'* why they are sold in complete kits. I just looked on Autozone for your car and it lists the sway bar endlink kits for around $6. If your able to replace struts in your driveway, you can replace endlinks.

But I didn't see any listing for the kits that hold the sway bar to the frame. But if you were to Google them, you would find a whole bunch of them. Including ones that have built in grease fittings which are pretty popular these days.

there are more than just stabilizer in the suspension though, there is control arm bushings, upper strut mounts, lower ball joints, and tie rod ends are suspension related in the alignment of the tires. the stabilizer bushings and end links are the only thing you can replace without an alignment though and all those parts should last over 150k.

Thanks for the replies. I just have a mild somewhat muted clunking of parts when going over bumps and so far I have found nothing loose. So I thought if it was cheap enough that I would just replace all the rubber bushings as would be practical to eliminate that as a possible source of my problem.

mild muted clunking, sounds more like shocks then sway bars. atleast most of the time that is.

my 07 has done it since i got it, i took it back when i got it, it gets worse when there is a bunch of people or weight in it?

i think its the lack of structure in the back. the dealer said the spare tire was loose and gave it back but it wasnt any different and i need to drive the car im not going to let them have it for a ton of time. there are no strut bars like my 03 had(it was solid and quiet for the almost 200k i had it) and everything on the car is just built thinner and creaks and groans all the time. ive been thinking of putting my own bars on it and see if that helps

Strut tower bars crossed my mind too. It made the noise when I had the new shocks on it too.

Start by looking at the lower control arm front bushings, they're one of the usual suspects.
