My friend Jess'* 2001 Park Avenue
I have a good friend of mine,Jess and she hears a noise when turning to the left while driving her 2001 Park Avenue. It is a grinding noise, her brother did replace the front pads last week with high quality brake pads.Drives to the right and goes away. Her no good boyfriend/no good mechanic says it is in the transmission.Jess and I don't believe him at all.Talked to my Mechanic Gerald and says it is a wheelbearing. She admits it has been a good car to her with 105,000 miles on it.Jess and I believe my mechanic more.

Definitely sounds like a wheel bearing. Mine recently started making a noise when I turn left too. Does it seem to get louder when you drive faster?

yup its a wheel bearing. its a fairly easy job but for some reason shops charge way more than the work is really worth. i can change em in a half hour in my apartments parking lot at this point lol.
the part itself is about $120 for a decent one. dont cheap out on em. timken is the brand to go with for our cars.
make sure you save the receipt if she drives on the highway alot. i make lots of trips to chicago from memphis and back and mine went in about 6 months. free exchange with the receipt though.

Her brother checked it out,bad left front wheelbearing.Luckily he had one on hand and replaced it,quiet and the noise is gone.Replaced the right side too at the same time, was starting to make some noise.
