Default Interesting Day in Auroraville

Last week I noticed that my gear shift indicator light went out. So, being the nit pick that I am I took the car in. Its far to cold to be ripping apart my centre console and monkeying with wires. Anyhow, I brought her in today for a look. They replaced the bulb and one of the wires had come out. No big deal. Fixed

But more interestingly. I know we have talked about the Performance Shift button on the shifter (Auroras) and how they dont seem to anything. Well, possibly check the wires under that shifter. Mine were disconnected. Apparently, the wires from the factory are not cut long enough. So after years of contstant shifting the wires stretch and detach.

I gave the "Kill Switch" a good this morning. DAMN, nice crisp shifts, up in the high 4000'* low 5000'*...revs up faster and I got get response. It was a real treat. They added an extra 2 inches of wire so now I have a bit of slack in there.

Oh and my shift indicator light is working again

ive got the shift tables from my gm released service manuals. it has the up and down shifts for 3.48 and 3.71 geared cars. it also has them both w/ and without performance shift

they do delay shifts under light-mid throttle, even heavy. BUT in WOT the upshifts and downshifts are the exact same for 3.48/3.71 geared aurora'* w/ and without performance shift, it only makes the car feel faster under normal driving, most likely making the car feel like its revving higher because its telling the car your pushing the gas a little harder...not sure, probably part of the reason why all aurora owners report lower gas mileage with it on.

thats interesting though, i should check mine out and see if its all connected

Thats how performance shift on SSEI'* works too. It just dumbs down the stock shifting. And SSEi softens up the shifts in "normal" mode.

Well, it would make sense that at WOT that the shifts would be the same weather in peformance or normal shift mod. When you want power, YOU WANT POWER!!

well they make it seem like, if your doing a little stoplight racing, push the "POWER" button to performance, not normal ( i think thats how its labled). but really does nothing in racing, just wastes gas.
