Valve cover removal - rear
Help!!
I have taken a lot of things out of the way to remove the rear valve cover. All the bolts off and the cover is free, but not enough room against the firewall to clear the timing sprocket. What needs to be done? Rick |
Northstar? Regardless of what you are working on you have to drop the front down.

Support then unbolt the front of the subframe, and probably loosen the bolts on the back of the subframe a bit. Lower the front of the subframe down carefully while ensuring that no cables/wires/hoses/etc. get stretched or bent or damaged, and that nothing ends up pushing on anything. Go down a few inches and you should be able to get the cam cover out.
You might have to disconnect the exhaust near the engine to do this. |

I always said the engineers should be made to work on many vehicles before they are allowed to design their first.
I think they consider that stuff a little more these days, probably because bean counters have figured out which parts will be replaced on warranty most often and had the engineers design in some room to make it cost less in manhours. :) |
